we were given the task of creating a video to aid instruction of student in a specific subject area. My group members and I choose the topic folk culture in St.Lucia because we observed that students have little knowledge of the folk cultures still being practiced in St.Lucia. The purpose of this video is create an awareness and to encourage the students to show greater appreciation for the folk culture by participating and practicing the various folk culture.
This task was indeed time consuming and frustrating yet fun and informative. In the process of creating the video I learnt a lot more about St.Lucia's folk culture and developed a greater appreciation for it .We used a camera to record the clippings. Most of our video clippings were recorded in the community of Choiseul as it is one of the communities where folk culture is still highly practiced.my group members and I meet at Choiseul village where we took our first clip and we moved on to the other various communities to get the other clippings. Transportation was an issue because we had to move form one community to the next. This then became overwhelming but we tried to remain calm and patient in order to complete the process. We could not record all of the clips on that day therefore we had to complete it the following day
The biggest issue was we encountered was with the editing of the video. Since we had little exposer to the video editing software camtasia. We had major cutting out the background noise and adding the quiz to the video even after we viewed the video tutorials on the several times. After countless trials we finally did it right .
I believe that the video could have been a lot better if we had a few more practice sections to explore the video editing soft ware. Also we should have been exposed to more than one video software therefore, we would have the opportunity to choose the software we felt most comfortable with. In spite of all the challenges my group members and I come up with an interesting video.
