Definition of Folk Culture

Interesting, I love the definition for folk culture, when I heard of folk culture all that comes to mind is the way of life of our ancestors, such as the way they cooked their food on a hearth or the way they wash their clothes by the river, but now I understand that it is a broader term and it relates  to the long ago values held on by a country, such as arts, paintings, fishing and the list goes on and on.
