corrections In The Lesson Plan

Miss Herman I was  just going over the lesson plan and  I realized that we needed  to make some corrections, please take not,
Objectives
1.  Students will view and listen to a video on folk cultures of  our ancestors and identify various forms of folk cultures still being practiced in St Lucia.
2.  Students will discuss various forms of folk cultures presented in the video.
3.  Students will demonstrate an appreciation for folk culture by engaging in the production of one folk culture.
I must compliment you on the content, however I believe that you we should include another activity in the Introduction.  Students will also listen to a folk song.
Also in the evaluation, students should be given the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of folk culture through a reflection of songs or dance.  What are you opinions.  Also I like the idea that students are able to represent their understanding of the  concept visually through drama, poetry, song, dance, drawing or writing, they are given a choice . Bravo.

Dymthna Herman's Refection

we were given the task of creating a video to aid instruction of student in a specific subject area. My group members and I choose the topic folk culture in St.Lucia  because we observed that students have little knowledge of the folk cultures still being practiced in St.Lucia. The purpose of this video is create an awareness and to encourage the students to show greater appreciation for the folk culture by participating and practicing the various folk culture.
This task was indeed time consuming and frustrating yet fun and informative. In the process of creating the video I learnt a lot  more about St.Lucia's  folk culture and developed a greater appreciation for it .We used a camera to record the clippings. Most of our video clippings were recorded in the community of Choiseul as it is one of the communities where folk culture is still highly practiced.my group members and I meet at Choiseul village where we took our first clip and we moved on to the other various communities to get the other clippings. Transportation was an issue because we had to move form one community to the next. This then became overwhelming but we tried to remain calm and patient in order to complete the process. We could not record all of the clips on that day therefore we had to complete it the following day
The biggest issue was we encountered was with the editing of the video. Since we had little exposer to the video editing software camtasia. We had major cutting out the background noise and adding the quiz to the video even after we viewed the video tutorials on the several times. After countless trials we finally did it right .
I believe that the video could have been a lot better if we had a few more practice sections to explore the video editing soft ware. Also we should have been exposed to more than one video software therefore, we would have the opportunity to choose the software we felt most comfortable with. In spite of  all the challenges my group members and I come up with an interesting video.

I read your reflection and I realized that you have the word fantasia instead of comtasia. make that change.
It is indeed a brilliant as it allow the students to read and comment on their experiences. Also, It allows the teacher to monitor and assess the students learning.
You are free to make corrections to the lesson plan

Claudia Alfred's Reflection On Video

My group chose the topic Folk Cultures left behind by our ancestors mainly because we realized that much emphasis is no longer being  placed on the different forms of folk cultures practiced  in St Lucia  and children of school ages are not aware of  those traditions left behind, such as pottery making, paintings, fishing, farming, dancing and arts, to name a few.  I was  very excited to be doing a video around my community, which is Choiseul, however along the way we were faced with many challenges that I didn't anticipated.  To begin with we had to go to seven different areas to shot the videos,  and these places were far from the main road, where vehicles do not traverse and are not reliable .  On the  first trip, we managed however to take a few shots, upon returning home we realized that the main video, which  was the interview with the gentleman about  chair making was not recorded, mainly because the camera the school loan us did not come with a charger and as a result we couldn't use it.  So I had to go back to my house to get my camera.  We then returned  to Mongouge a second time on foot to do the video again where we were completely soaked in the rain.  Another challenge I personally faced was how to edit the videos using the fantasia programme, I am not very verse  with using such programmes and it completely put me off.  In as much as I enjoyed being and learning new  applications in the EDET class, with the exception of PowerPoint, most of the applications were new to me and seemed Greek.  Yet my worse of all challenges came on the day we had to submit the assignment with group members not keeping up with their promises by making excuses and not even showing up.  This is indeed an experience I will never forget.
I love the idea of children's work being taken and create a blog with it where they can comment, brilliant idea, Dymthna

Definition of Folk Culture

Interesting, I love the definition for folk culture, when I heard of folk culture all that comes to mind is the way of life of our ancestors, such as the way they cooked their food on a hearth or the way they wash their clothes by the river, but now I understand that it is a broader term and it relates  to the long ago values held on by a country, such as arts, paintings, fishing and the list goes on and on.
